Luxembourg is expected to turn into a giant book exchange over the coming week as an initiative urging people to leave a book for a stranger to find gets underway for the second time.
The “forget a book somewhere” project is being launched again in the Grand Duchy by book worm Marie-Rose Hary, who plans to distribute around 500 books along benches in the Pétrusse Valley in this way.
Marie-Rose is urging other people to get involved, not only by picking up a book and taking it home to read, but also by leaving their unwanted books somewhere someone might find them.
Participants need only put a sticker on the book's cover saying “Forget a book somewhere”, leaving a short note inside.
The intiative is not new, having gained ground in countries as diverse as Morocco and Israel.
Last year, Marie-Rose set up a Facebook page dedicated to the event, which attracted more than 10,000 likes.
