Around 20 refugees arrived in Luxembourg on Monday night, meanwhile a further 50 Syrian refugees are expected on Wednesday evening, the Integration Ministry has said.
The 20-strong group arrived in Luxembourg City overnight from Monday to Tuesday by their own means. They were immediately seen at the new asylum seeker centre Lily Unden in Limpertsberg.
It is expected that they will be housed at the Héliar centre in Weilerbach, where they will be welcomed by the mayor.
The arrival comes in addition to the 50 Syrian refugees expected to arrive in Luxembourg by bus at around 6pm on Wednesday.
The bus was travelling from Karlsruhe in Germany, where around 400 migrants, who mostly entered Europe via Hungary, are waiting.
Up to 7,000 refugees were bused to Germany from Hungary over the weekend, prompting Luxembourg Family Minister Corinne Cahen to announce that the Grand Duchy would take 50 refugees.
The number comes in addition to the 515 refugees and asylum seekers Luxembourg has been asked to rehouse by the EU Commission over the coming two years as part of a quota system.
