Summer 2015 had it all! From June to August it was mostly hot, sunny and dry making it one of the nicest summers in history since weather records began at Findel's meteorological centre in 1947.
Despite this year being extremely hot, it is still not the hottest in history as 2015 ranks just behind 2003, a year that still holds the title of "summer of the century".
The hottest day this summer was July 4 when the mercury rose to a scorching 36.1°C. This is the highest measured air temperature recorded at the Findel weather station since 1947, according to Meteolux reports.
Eight tropical nights
Before this year, the July heat record stood at 35.7°C , and so 2015 saw that record broken. The average temperature for the entire month of July was 20.3°C making it the seventh warmest in history.
August was also considerably warmer than previous years with an average temperature of 20.1°C boasting a total of eight tropical nights when temperatures did not fall below 20°C .
July and August combined enjoyed a total of 43 summer days with temperture rising above 25°C when the norm eis about 28 days.

This year the 30°C mark was cracked on 18 days. The average, between 1981 and 2010 was about 4 days.
2015 has been the summer of sun. In fact statistics show that we've had 789 hours of sunshine while the average is about 708 hours.
The downside to this is of course drought, but actually it did rain on 39 days only one day less than the climatic average.
Having said that the amount rain that fell was not that much. Only 150.4 litres per square metre fell, that's 75 litres less that the average of previous years.
But, almost as compensation, Tuesday of this week saw torrential rains across the country. According to Meteolux 55.1 litres fell per square metre, making a record for the month of September.
Hopefully however, we have not seen the last of summer weather quite yet.
