(ADW) Dudelange is changing its appearance as part of the “Forge du Sud” project, and reconstruction has
begun that residents can't have failed to notice. Right in the centre
of the town, the remodeling is to be cutely named “Am Duerf” or
the village.
In this area not only will 100 new
apartments be built of various sizes and business premises, but
also a new green central location which will become a “meeting
place” according to Mayor Dan Biancalana.
So what will "Am Duerf" look like?
“In the middle of the square
fountains will be built”, explained the enthusiastic mayor waving
his arms around to demonstrate. Apart from this central feature, the
4,400 square metre area will “radiate dynamism” with among
other things, a new retail space.
The current view of “Am Duerf”:
However 1,000 of those square metres
will be taken up by a new Delhaize supermarket. The idea is to
“create a mix of shops that complement the existing ones on offer
in Dudelange” said Biancalana.
If everything goes to plan the last bit
of construction work will be finished in December 2016, complete with
353 parking spaces in a new underground car park beneath Am Duerf.
