(CS) Luxembourg police in the early hours of Monday morning confiscated four licences, with three drivers caught driving drunk, while one motorist was driving under the influences of marijuana.
Just before 1am on Monday, police in Steinfort caught a driver speeding at 77km/h in a 50km/h zone during a routine traffic check. There was a noticeable smell of alcohol as police checked the papers, a statement said, prompting officers to carry out a breathalyser test. The driver was found to be drunk and his licence was pulled.
Around 1.10am in Kirchberg then a police control spotted a speeding vehicle running a red light. Police signalled the driver to stop. He was unable to produce vehicle papers and police smelled alcohol on his breath. Again, a breathalyser test was positive. The vehicle was impounded and the driver's licence was confiscated.
Rather than speeding, a driver in Biwer was spotted driving suspiciously slowly around 2.20am in the early hours of Monday morning. Here, too, an alcohol test showed that the driver had exceeded the legal limit and his licence was seized by police.
In Capellen meanwhile police caught a car zig-zagging along Route d'Arlon, crossing over into the opposite lane, shortly after 1.30am. During a vehicle check, the female driver confessed to having smoked a joint before driving. She handed over a small quantity of marijuana to police. A roadside drug test was positive, the result of which was confirmed by a blood and urine analysis in hospital. Police confiscated the driver's licence.
