August 14: Met Opera Aida, Ciné Utopia, 6.30pm
This Limpertsberg-based cinema is to screen a performance of Verdi's Aida, performed by the New York City Metropolitan Opera. www.utopia.lu

August 14: Les Demoiselles de Rochefort ('The Young Girls of Rochefort'), Places des Capucins, 9.30pm
This 1967 musical traces the adventures of twins Delphine and Solange, taking viewers on an emotional roller coaster. In French with English subtitles. Free.
August 15: The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, Place des Capucins, 9.30pm
Mere seconds before the Earth is to be demolished by an alien construction crew, journeyman Arthur Dent is swept off the planet by his friend Ford Prefect, a researcher penning a new edition of "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy." English with French subtitles. Free.
August 15: Amy, Rotondes, 8pm CANCELLED!
Directed by Asif Kapadia, Amy provides a candid portrait of late British singer Amy Winehouse using archive footage and images. www.rotondes.lu

August 16: Goran Bregovic- Champagne for Gypsies, Insenborn, 7.30pm

EXHIBITIONS
until September 24: Gare Art Festival, Luxembourg City
Sculptors who created works of art in Place de Paris, will have the fruits of their labour exhibited in the new glass waiting hall of the city's central train station until September 24.
until September 19: Le Quotidien de la Grande Guerre, Bibliothèque Nationale de Luxembourg
Visit the national library in Luxembourg City to see documents showing what everyday life was like in the Grand Duchy during the First World War. Posters and postcards, etchings, books, brochures and other documents are on display at the library to give an insight into this period of Luxembourg history. The library is open Monday to Friday 10.30am to 6.30pm and Saturdays from 9am to 12pm.

August 14-16: Kolla Festival, Steinfort, times vary
A three-day “alternative” festival of everything: music, shopping, cinema and food. Kolla Festival promises a variety of activities including workshops on home-made cosmetics, laughter yoga and magic, a local market, swap shop where people are urged to bring along old clothes, books and music. Live music is offered throughout as is the chance to find varied food for vegans, vegetarians and carnivores. Free camping is offered on-site. August 14: Luxembourg City promenade by night
The Luxembourg City Tourism office is organising guided tours of the capital on Friday nights during the summer. Departs Place Guillaume II. To find out more, visit www.lcto.lu
August 15: Guided tours of the furnaces at Belval, 10am to 6pm
The tall furnace tower at Esch Belval will be open to the public on Saturday enabling visitors to have unrivalled views over the area. The striking furnace tower was conserved as a celebration of Luxembourg's industrial heritage but it's not for the faint-hearted. Tower A, which is 40 metres tall, can be reached by climbing 180 steps. Visits are 5 euros but entry to the permanent exhibition about the local development in the Massenoire building is free.

Camp out under the stars on Saturday at this curious camping event organised by the Kyosk, 10 rue Leon Hengen, Kirchberg. www.facebook.com
August 15: European Ford Capri Revival, Ettelbruck, 10am to 6pm, free
The Daïchhal centre in Ettelbruck will be the backdrop for a European meeting of Ford Capris. Around 100 participants are expected to attend making for a fascinating show for car fans.
August 15: Luxembourgish evening, Limpach, from 7pm, free
Immerse yourself in local Luxembourgish culture at this family-friendly village festival in Limpach. There will be live music from the Orchester POL, home cooked food including local speciality Kniddelen and plenty to drink. 12a rue du Ruisseau 4499, Limpach.
August 16: Studio Challenge Wall to wall activity, workshops at MUDAM, from 11am
Unleash your imagination in a specially created public creative space at Luxembourg's modern art museum in Kirchberg. Materials are provided. www.mudam.lu
