International food retail group Delhaize has announced management changes for some of their European operations, including the appointment of a new CEO for Luxembourg and Belgium.
As of September 11, Xavier Piesvaux will be Brand President for Belgium and Luxembourg, succeeding Denis Knoops who decided to leave the group after 25 years. Knoops will remain available in the coming weeks to ensure a smooth transition.
In a company statement, Piesvaux was hailed as "the right successor to make Delhaize the favorite supermarket in Belgium and Luxemburg again".
He will report to Wouter Kolk who will join the Ahold Delhaize Executive Committee as Chief Operating Officer for Netherlands and Belgium.
Piesvaux has 27 years of experience in the retail sector. He was recently Senior Vice President for Walmart East Canada. Prior to that, he served as Brand President of Ahold Delhaize’s Mega Image brand in Romania where he helped the company expand its footprint, from 14 stores in 2006 to almost 500 in 2015.
