The fire that destroyed the Cat Club bar and restaurant on July 19 was likely caused by a short circuit.
Speaking to Luxembourg daily L'Essentiel, the club's owner said that initialy investigations suggest a short circuit in a cable.
“Police dogs and the police found no suspicious traces of petrol”, the owner, Ed Sauer, was quoted as saying.
The owner's statement has yet to be confirmed by investigating authorities.
The fire began in the roof of the building in rue de l'Aciérie in the early hours of July 19. All those inside the venue were evacuated without injury.
Flames quickly spread to neighbouring buildings, causing further damage.
Mr Sauer told L'Essentiel that he had sold the building two weeks prior to the devastating blaze.
“The sale had been signed by @mags equinox on July 7. We had a six-year lease agreement to rent the place for 7,500 euros per month. I now expect the insurance experts to decide the future of the premises,” he was quoted as saying.
