And so it begins! Nine days of the popular Medieval Festival is underway at Vianden Castle, with sword and torch fighting demonstrations, falcon shows, belly dancing, fire-eating and a traditional market.
Starting last Saturday and running until Sunday August 2, the Vianden Medieval Festival takes place in the unique and picturesque setting of Vianden Castle attracting some 30,000 visitors each year.
There’s pretty much something for everyone offering everything medieval from camps making weaponry and armour, to various shows and displays, troubadours with music, flaconers, calligraphers, even a few beggars,.... in fact every detail of the festival is designed to immerse visitors in a medieval world and transport them back in time.
The big castle gates open every day from 10am and on Saturday and Sunday a free shuttle bus from the town centre to the castle is available between 12pm and 7pm.
