Education Minister Claude Meisch has
confirmed teachers who teach through the medium of English at the
state-run international school Lycée Michel Lucius "have the
required linguistic skills".
He made the declaration in response to
a parliamentary question by Christian Social People's Party (CSV) MP Martine Mergen who asked the minister if he could confirm reports
that some of the teachers at the school do not have adequate
competencies to teach in English.
"I do not doubt the quality of the
teaching at Lycée Michel Lucius," Mr Meisch responded. "The
teachers giving lessons in English have the required linguistic
skills and management allocates such a task exclusively to teachers
who meet the requirements and who have expressed their willingness to
teach in the language."
Lycée Michel Lucius in Limpertsberg is
a state-funded secondary school and has had an English language
stream since 2011. From September it is opening an English-language
primary school in Belair.
