(MH) Four Luxembourg bands will soon showcase their musical talent to a large crowd as they were selected to perform at the well-known "Reeperbahn Festival" in Hamburg this coming September.
Seed to Tree, Say Yes Dog, Monophona, When 'Airy met Fairy- are the names of the four local bands that managed to save their spot at this year's Reeperbahn.
As one of the biggest music platforms for newcomers, the Reeperbahn Festival celebrates its 10th edition this year. With 70 venues and 400 music acts, it offers a vast programme to over 30,000 music fans. Industry professionals and talents-seekers from over 40 different nations also make their way to the Reeperbahn on the hunt for new break-through talents. Bon Iver, Gotye and Jake Bugg are among the many musicians that kickstarted their career thanks to performing at the festival.
Following the example of the Beatles who performed at the Kaiserkeller music club in 1960, Seed to Tree will perform on the very same stage. To make the most of this unique opportunity, the indie folk-pop band aims to showcase their musical talent by performing a set of their best songs.
"We are thrilled to have been chosen for Reeperbahn,we still can't quite believe it's real, but of course we are excited and really looking forward to this absolutely amazing opportunity", stated Seed to Tree's guitarist Benjamin Heidrich in an interview with Luxemburger Wort.
Since their formation back in 2009, the five members have embarked on an exciting journey, releasing their first album earlier this year and developing a more mature sound over the past few years.
"Of course music means fun for us, but we have also a clear objective in mind we are working towards, and now seems to be bearing fruit from our effort" said Heidrich. The band recently gained valuable experience in the acoustic and full live concerts earlier this year as they toured Berlin under the 'Across Berlin' banner with help from Music:LX.
While performing at Reeperbahn will be a first for the boys of Seed to Tree, Say Yes Dog and Monophona know the concept well having performed in previous years. As big fans of Hamburg City, both bands are looking forward to showcasing their musical talent again this September.
Formed in 2009, Say Yes Dog is a three-piece electronic band that is based both in Luxembourg and Berlin.
Since 2010, the trio Monophona produces music of different poles, combining acoustic sounds with electronic beats.
When 'Airy Met Fairy will also represent the Grand-Duchy at the German festival, headed up by well-known singer Thorunn Egilsdottir, showcasing their minimalist and melancholic sounds.
