The suspect was caught during a speed check control in Rue d'Ettelbruck on Thursday morning at 2.30am, speeding 78 km/h in a 50 km/h zone.
After being signalled to stop by the police, the driver slowed down, but soon had a change of heart, accelerated and drove off.
After a short pursuit, local police managed to stop the driver near a service station in Ingeldorf.
A breathalyser revealed that the driver was over the legal alcohol limit.
