(MH) As the first “open-air“ library in Luxembourg, the "Escher Bicherschaf" calls out for new book donations to keep up with its success since the launch in 2013.
The "Escher Bicherschaf" is the first nation-wide project of its kind and the only one to date. Essentially, it is an “open-air“ library in the heart of Esch city that is available to everyone who enjoys a good read.
Following the concept of “Give and Take“, anyone interested can take a book from the shelves as long as it is being replaced by another. All participation in the project is free of charge.
With more than 10.000 books exchanged in two years, the “Escher Bicherschaf“ looks back at a successful start, having sparked interest in many passionate readers.
In order to keep the project afloat, new book donations are more than welcome.
Apart from schoolbooks and politically-motivated books, the “Escher Bicherschaf“ is open to all kinds of books, may they be novels, children stories or travel books. To keep the library diverse and accessible to everyone, the books can also be in any language.
To avoid that the books are sold onwards, the City Tourist Office stamps every book of the collection and regularly checks the content of the bookshelves.
Outside the “Hôtel de Ville“, the “Escher Bicherschaf“ is open from Monday until Friday from 8am-6pm.
Those who would like to donate books to the Escher project can drop their books off at the City Tourist Office, which is open from Monday until Friday from 9am-5pm.
