(CS/ks) The mother of a one-month old baby reported missing on July 3 has been taken into custody, the prosecutor's office said Friday.
Luxembourg police last week issued an appeal for information after a baby girl, Bianka Bisdorff, was reported missing.
On Monday, police searched a wooded area and a river near Linger and Pétange, close to the Belgian border. However the baby, born June 6, was not found during the search.
Earlier this week, the prosecutor's office asked for understanding from the public that so little information was being released about the disappearance of the child, saying that this was done to protect the infant.
A deputy prosecutor also said that there was still hope the girl would be found alive.
Without releasing any further details, authorities on Friday afternoon announced that Bianka's mother has been taken into custody, adding that the investigation is still ongoing.
