Motorists travelling through France over the weekend are warning to expect some delays as the first wave of major holiday traffic hits the roads.
According to French traffic monitoring service the “Bison Futé”, a code red has been issued for French national roads on Friday and Saturday all over the country.
On Saturday, a black warning was issued for roads in the Rhône-Alpes region.
Some of the traffic volume will be driven by the fact that French national (Bastille) day falls on Tuesday and many French nationals are expected to travel away for the long weekend.
German roadside assistance association ADAC issued a code red suggesting traffic jams on German national roads on Saturday. Roads are also expected to be heavily congested with holiday traffic on July 17 and 18, 24, 25, 31 and August 1, 7 and 8.
