(CS/jag) For some three months Luxembourg water brand Rosport has been trying to fix a problem with its glass bottles, a number of which had randomly broken, with no result so far.
Rosport in late March recalled its Rosport Classic 1-litre glass bottles after a number of them had randomly shown cracks and broken. The bottles are delivered by a big European supplier and samples have been sent to three laboratories to determine the cause of the fault.
However, analyses carried out so far have yielded no result. Among the causes under consideration are production faults, damage during transport or overload failures.
In the meantime, Rosport has also withdrawn its Rosport Blue 1-litre glass bottles. Both products remain available in plastic bottles.
In November last year, Rosport had invested around nine million euros in a new bottling plant, introducing a new bottle design.
In 2014, the company sold around 31 million bottles of water, around half of which were made of glass.
Customers can still return Rosport Classic and Blue glass bottles to the point of purchase to replace them with plastic.
