The rainbow colours of Gaymat festival come to Esch
While the Gaymat festival is commonly associated with loud music and fun events, the upcoming festivities also symbolize political and cultural change in support of the LGBT community.

(MH) While the Gaymat festival is commonly associated with loud music and fun events, the upcoming festivities also symbolize political and cultural change in support of the LGBT community.
During a press conference, local politicians proudly announced that the Gaymat festival will be held in Esch from July 4-11.
In support of the LGBT community, the city of Esch/Alzette has also taken the decision to join the worldwide network "Rainbow Cities", and become part of long list of cities hosting LGBT parades.
In addition, a further convention will announce the festival's exclusivity to the city of Esch. Pre-sale tickets are available at the Tourist Office in Esch/Alzette, from the "Rosa Letzebuerg" and online. The programme is as follows:
July 4:Opening Party. A party to kick off celebrations starts at 10.30pm, the only event taking place in Luxembourg City at Monkey's Bar.
July 6:Memorial. A memorial event will be held outside the "Musée national de la Résistance" in Esch at 6.30pm in memory of the persecution of homosexuals under the Nazi regime.
July 6-11: Exposition. An exhibition "La vie en rose", will be held at the municipal theatre in Esch, featuring the works photographer Sandy Vitali, and Dylan Ritsu, art illustrator. Entry is free.
July 7-8. Film festival. At 8pm, the "Ciné Ariston" will show the following films: Reaching for the Moon (Tuesday), Xenia (Wednesday), Call me Kuchu (Thursday), followed by a general discussion.
July 10: Party. What is being called "Bear Attack Party" will take place at the Rockhalcafé, in Belval starting at 10.30pm.
July 11: Gaymat-Itself. The festivities take place at the "Rathausplatz" from 12pm until 8pm. A parade starts at 2pm at "Brillplatz". According to reports, a surprise awaits fans of the Eurovision Song Contest, but what exactly remains a secret!
Then to end Gaymat 2015 a closing party takes place in the Kulturfabrik from 9pm.
