Fans of the graphic novel genre are in for a treat after a new book was published putting a comic book spin on Luxembourg City's history.
'Vum Siggy bis bei d’City' was unveiled on Friday, two years after the project was launched to mark the capital's 1050th anniversary.
Written by Lucien Czuga and drawn by Roger Leiner, the comical book accompanies different generations of the family Molitor through key historical episodes in the City's history.
The events covered span from the construction of a small castle on a Bock around 963, to the installation of the Schueberfouer by King John the Blind (1340) right up to the creation of the first European Community with its headquarters in Luxembourg City in 1957.
While the book is fiction, the adventures of the characters depitcted are based on real historic events.
The book is available in French or Luxembourgish versions and can be purchased from most book stores, the Musée d’Histoire de la Ville de Luxembourg, Luxembourg City Tourist Office and the House of Luxembourg.
On Friday Luxembourg City issued a copy of the book to each pupil in cycle 4 at primary school to encourage them to learn more about the capital's history.
