Luxembourg's Grand Duchess Maria Teresa met with special envoys and honorary ambassadors to UNESCO in Paris on Monday.
Among other guests at the annual meeting were Spanish opera singer Montserrat Caballé, Princess Firyal of Jordan, French musician Jean-Michel Jarre and German society lady Ute-Henriette Ohoven.
Participants exchanged views on current and upcoming projects, including the 2015 World Education Forum, youth and internet campaign UNITE4HERITAGE and UNESCO's participation in the 2015 Conference of Parties at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change to be held in Paris from November to December.
Luxembourg's Grand Duchess has served as honorary ambassador to UNESCO since 1997.
She is particularly interested in micro-credit, the social economy, the education of women and girls and the rights of children.
In the past, she has visited numerous UNESCO projects in the field, for example in Bangladesh, Nepal, Thailand and Laos.
