Will Camille Fohl take over the reins of Spuerkeess?
The former BNP Paribas director and Luxembourg banker Camille Fohl has been proposed at the helm of Luxembourg's state savings bank.

Former BNP Paribas director and Luxembourg banker Camille Fohl is expected to become the next president of Luxembourg's state savings bank Spuerkeess (BCEE).
According to a report by Radio 100,7, that cites well-informed sources, Fohl has been proposed to take over the bank's reins and the proposal will be discussed at the government council on Friday.
The European Central Bank (ECB), which must validate this type of appointment, has already approved Fohl's candidacy, radio 100.7 stated.
Subject to the approval of the Luxembourg government council, Camille Fohl would replace the current Spuerkeess Chairman of the Supervisory Board Victor Rod who has held the role since 1992.
Another candidate to head Luxembourg's state bank, former Minister of Economic Affairs Henri Grethen had to withdraw his candidacy after the ECB decided he was not sufficiently qualified to take on the job.
First Luxemburger on the board of the Fortis Group
Born in 1956, Camille Fohl joined the Banque Générale du Luxembourg in 1986.
Between 1990 and 1996, he was initially head of the corporate division and then of the branch network. From 1996, he was responsible for the domestic market as general manager, and from 1998 onwards for commercial banking.

In April 2000, he was appointed to the Management Board, where he is currently responsible for Commercial Banking, the bank insurance model (BIM), Marketing and Commercial Strategy, Communications and Advertising, Operations and Real Estate.
In 2008, Camille Fohl was appointed a member of the executive committee of Belgian financial services Fortis, being the first Luxembourg national to be included in the group's highest managing body.
Fohl also headed the BNP Paribas's operations in Germany from 2013 to last March. Under his leadership, BNP Paribas Germany saw an increase in the number of corporate customers, from 200 to 450. Fohl also serves as member of the Board of Directors of BNP Paribas.
He has a degree in applied economics from the Université Catholique de Louvain and a Generic Degree in Advanced Management Program from INSEAD.
