Settling into their new home
University of Luxembourg rector Rainer Klump and staff began the task of unpacking as they settled into their new offices in Belval this week.
The rector's sparsely furnished office on the 18th floor of the university's iconic “Maison du Savoir” building, was a stark contrast to his old office in Limpertsberg.
Among the first items to be unpacked, the rector revealed a striking blue statue of Goethe, a gift from his time at Frankfurt's Goethe University.
After a welcome breakfast for university staff on Monday, Professor Klump talked about the importance of the area's industrial history and the significant role it played in expanding the country's wealth.
He said that at the same time, Belval stands for the integration of the university in an urban environment where he hopes, in future staff and students will feel at home.
The first students are expected to arrive at the Belval campus on the week of September 14 when a series of welcome events are scheduled.
