Foreigner voting rights in Luxembourg remain topical as the June 7 referendum draws ever closer.
Wort.lu took to the streets to ask passersby, both Luxembourgish and of other nationalities, their opinion on this divisive question.
The six people who commented in the video spoke in favour of granting voting rights in national elections to foreign residents provided they fulfil the criteria proposed.
One French-speaking respondent suggested that voting rights could be a good way to integrate foreigners in Luxembourg. She said: "Often people think we don't invest in the country. It's not true. Because when you live in a country you see things differently than when you are simply a cross-border worker."
Another suggested that residents meeting the stringent criteria of 10-year-residency along with having voted in European or Communal elections and then registering to vote, demonstrated their care and interest in the community making them worthy of the right to vote.
