Anyone who has found an orphaned or injured wild animal and not known what to do may want to check out the Dudelange Animal Shelter at its next open day.
The shelter will open its doors to the public on June 27, from 2pm to 4pm, where members of the English-speaking section of conservation group natur&ëmwelt will give behind the scenes tours.
The shelter helps thousands of wild animals every year, with a success rate of 60 percent for reintroduction into the wild. Visitors might see young red foxes, stone martens, native owls, birds of prey and cute baby hedgehogs.
This event is family-friendly and accessible to people with disabilities. Visitors should wear clothing appropriate to the weather conditions. They should also register in advance as spaces are limited.
Entry costs 5 euros and all proceeds will go towards supporting the animal shelter.
While there, visitors may also wish to adopt a hedgehog to help it survive the cold winter months. Forms will be available during the open day.
