A school bus carrying about 40 students crashed violently
into a car on Friday morning south-east of the country, leaving one person
with serious injuries.
The incident happened in Route de Vin in Ehnen when the bus,
transporting mostly students of Lycée de Grevenmacher crashed with force into a
car, for unknown reasons at this stage. The impact was so violent, the bus was
even run partially off the road where it hit a lamppost before coming to a halt
in front of a field.
The car driver was seriously hurt and initially trapped
inside the vehicle. He had to be freed by firefighters before being rushed to
hospital.
Luckily however none of the students appeared to be physically hurt, although five of them complained of pain and were immediately
transported to hospital for a check-up.
The other students took a replacement bus to school, where
they were offered psychological help.
The bus driver was also lucky to escape the accident with
only bruises.
As of 9am on Friday morning the road was completely blocked
and ACL advises motorists to avoid the area if possible.
