Mike McQuaide better known as “An
American In Luxembourg” has a new song out and this time it's
political!
Writing especially for Wort.lu/en his
new ditty fitting current Grand Duchy affairs, is “The Referendum
Song”.
Mike popped into the Luxemburger Wort
studios to tell us “ech sinn a foreigner” in his new
composition, telling us in his own amusing way his foreigner voting
rights view!
And here are all the lyrics
Comin’ up in June there’s a referendum:‘Should foreigners have the right to vote?’Half say ‘Yay!’, half say ‘Nay!’But ADR says ‘It ain’t none of them foreigners’ business
anyway!’
Referendum in Luxembourg, where the sky’s sometime’s blueReferendum in Luxembourg, where foreigners are plenty but the
locals sorta few.
Well, ech sinn a foreigner,I come from the U.S. of A.So this here issue concerns me,But I ain’t ‘xactly sure what to say.
I appreciate the Grand Duchy’s hospitality,And I understand ‘Mir wëlle bleiwe wat mir sin.’But the facts is, I pay my taxes,It'd be nice to have a say in just who the hey is spendin’ my
bankses.
Referendum in Luxembourg, where the sky’s sometime’s blueReferendum in Luxembourg, where foreigners are plenty but the
locals sorta few.
So, I don’t know, it’s hard for me to say.‘Course I’m a foreigner, and can’t vote in the referendum
anyway. There’s only one thing, I know for sure,Y’all shouldn’t be shootin’ those bushy-tailed critters
no more.
Don’t shoot the foxes, they’re fluffy and they’re cute.Don’t shoot the foxes, ‘cause I bet they’re smarter than
me and you.________________________________________________
