(CS/jag) Luxembourg labour unions OGBL and LCGB have addressed an open letter to lux-Airport over fears that jobs in the security sector will be outsourced to a private company.
Some 170 members of staff currently work in security in and around the airport. Around half of them are employed by private company G4S.
Unions fear, however, that the whole sector will be outsourced, saying that G4S staff have recently received additional training for the screening of luggage and guarding of the outdoor areas.
Aloyse Kapweiler of the LCGB commented that there were no objections to G4S staff supporting lux-Airport employees at peak travel times. However, he added that a better solution would be hiring additional staff and social dialogue.
