A mayor who was accused of abusing his position and insulting a police officer has spoken out, calling the actions of the police "unnecessary and exaggerated."

A mayor who was accused of abusing his position and insulting a police officer has spoken out, calling the actions of the police "unnecessary and exaggerated."

Police accused Kopstal mayor Romain Adam of hastily scribbling out a late licence for the owners of a restaurant where he was celebrating a private party in order to pacify officers.
