Veterans of the Schueberfouer have become
familiar with the fun fair’s layout as it has pretty much remained the same
from edition to edition. But not this year!
The "Fouer" has lost about 700 square metres to the tram construction, resulting in the space being optimised as much as possible. This
means many familiar attractions that have had the same spot for years, have
shifted to new locations for 2017.
With that in mind the Wort has produced an interactive map
showing exactly where all attractions are now located. You can even find restaurants
and book tables as their phone numbers are shown.
The map is colour-coded with orange denoting the "main
attraction" rides, red for children’s rides, and blue for restaurants and bars.
The map also shows the location of cash withdrawal machines dotted around the outside of Schueberfouer, as there are none inside. And a handy tip: go to the toilets at the main entrance of the fair as they a free, the ones inside the fair will cost you!
Schueberfouer changes
Just before the tram arrives, Luxembourg City’s Schueberfouer
enters a new era. The expected two million visitors will discover the new fun
fair with ten entrances, straight alleys and a gourmet island where almost every
restaurant has a terrace. The 700 square metre loss has meant that some rides were sacrificed for 2017.
Once the tram is running though, a further loss of an extra
1,000 square metre of space is excepted for Schueberfouer 2018, begging the question as to
whether the Glacis car park is an ideal location for long-running fair.
However, as the Schueberfouer is one of Luxembourg’s oldest events
steeped in tradition and dating back more than 600 years, it is extremely unlikely a move would ever be considered.
