A
researcher from the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology
(LIST) has won a prestigious science prize for her work on polymers.
Bianca-Rita
Pistillo received the Scientist Medal 2017 of the International
Association of Advanced Materials (IAAM).
She
joins a list of less than a dozen female scientists to have won the
award for advanced materials.
Her
research focuses on a deposition
technique of conjugated polymers, organic macromolecules with
interesting optical and electronic properties, and in particular on
the poly (3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene)
(PEDOT).
Pistillo
developed a proprietary technique named "Plasma radicals assisted polymerization" via chemical vapour
deposition (PRAP-CVD) which is an alternative to conventional vapour
based techniques to deposit conjugated polymers.
