Jewellery thieves smash through roof

(ADW) Like a scene from an action film, jewellery thieves smashed though a roof of a shopping centre in Bascharage and escaped undetected with booty of extremely high value.

The incident took place on Tuesday night and the thieves initially lowered themselves from the shopping centre roof down into a hairdressing salon, giving them access to the adjacent jewellery store.

Once in the store they got to work smashing display cases, grabbing whatever they could get their hands on, completely emptying the shop. It is understood that the robbers swiped a haul of jewellery of extremely high value before escaping into the night undetected.

Differdange police, who arrived at the scene just after the incident, are now investigating.
