The number of international asylum applications to Luxembourg continues to creep up in 2015 with March figures the highest recorded so far this year.
Altogether, a total 98 fresh applications were received, bringing the total submitted since the beginning of the year to 275.
The largest proportion came from Kosovo (26), followed by Syria (11), Montenegro (10), Albania (7), Bosnie and Herzegovina (6), Georgia (5), Eritrea (5), Macedonia (4), Algeria, Morocco and Irak (3 each), Iran, Cameroon, Liberia, Somalia (2 each) and Belarus, Serbia, Senegal, Ghana, DRC, Ethiopia and Burundi (1 each).
In March, 56 people returned voluntarily after their asylum applications were rejected.
Of this group, 23 returned to Bosnia Herzegovina and 25 to Montenegro.
Since the beginning of the year, Luxembourg's international protection authorities have taken decisions on 154 applications. As a result, it refused 62 applications and approved 33.
