(CS) Luxembourg's unemployment rate remained at 7 percent in February 2015, with the number of jobseekers registered with employment agency ADEM dropping to 19,099 from 19,468 the previous month.
More than a quarter of jobseekers were aged 40-49, while over 11 percent were aged under 25 and 25 to 29, respectively.
The number of new jobseekers registered with ADEM was lower in February than at the start of the year. While in January 2,242 people signed up at the job centre, last month this number was down to 1,686.
For 602 of these registered jobseekers February marked the first trip to ADEM.
At the same time, the number of jobs available at ADEM increased from 4,130 in January to 4,882 in February. Of these, 2,717 were declared during the course of the month.
As with the number of registered jobseekers, the number of people on full unemployment benefits also decreased for the third consecutive month, from 8,124 in December 2014 to 7,929 in February this year.
Overall, the unemployment rate has remained largely stable over the course of the past year. In February 2014 it was at 7.1 percent before rising to 7.2 percent for much of the summer and gradually declining to reach 7 percent at the start of 2015.
The unemployment rate has not been below the 7 percent threshold in well over a year.
