Join the Museum of Natural History for a meteor shower

The National Museum of Natural History, the Amateur Astronomers of Luxembourg and the friends of the National Museum of Natural History invite the public to watch a meteor shower this Saturday, August 12, from 10 pm.

Between August 10 and 15, 2017 it will be possible to observe shooting stars that seem to come from the constellation of Perseus. Despite what one might think, they have got nothing to do with stars, they are rapidly moving meteors that burn up after entering the earths atmosphere.

What are they?

Shooting starts are in fact comet dust, which, by consuming themselves in the terrestrial atmosphere, briefly produce luminous threads in the night sky.

Where?

This event will take place at the Saint-Donat Chapel between Beidweiler and Eschweiler and participants will also be able to observe starts and any visible planets.

The site is only accessible from Beidweiler as the road from Eschweiler has been closed to traffic.
