Luxembourg residents rely on the internet most in the EU
when booking holidays and hotels, according to new Eurostat data released on
Wednesday.
The European Bureau of Statistics states that 73 per cent of
residents in the Grand Duchy book their trips or holiday accommodation online
placing the country at the top of the list.
This is followed Denmark at 67 per cent, and Finland at 63
per cent. Eurostat data shows that for
2016 the EU average is around 49 per cent.
Curiously though the pan-EU figures for holiday
accommodation or travel booking, show that older internet users booked online
more than younger users.
Around 49 per cent of those aged between 65 and 74 use the
web for booking, while the figure was 40 per cent for those aged between 16 and
24.
