(CS/ml) Luxembourg Foreign Minister Jean Asselborn on Friday welcomed the outcome of the Scottish independence referendum, saying that Europe needs unity, while adding that the outcome is a clear sign to the Westminster government.
Speaking to RTL, Asselborn commented that he is sympathetic towards the Scots, but added that “their mentality,” which he described as more direct and spontaneous, “is an irreplaceable part of what constitutes the UK.” Staying in the UK will not make the Scots any less Scottish, he argued.
