Luxembourg university strikes global partnerships and new finance programme
European law and cooperation with the financial sector and its emerging fields has been a focus for the faculty of law, economics and finance during the past academic year.

The University of Luxembourg's faculty of law, economics and finance ended the academic year by gaining a certification of standards for the third straight time, striking global partnerships and introducing a new programme on inclusive finance.
The faculty's dean, Professor Stefan Braum, who has been in the post for five years, presented a review of the past year. Professor Katalin Ligeti takes over the position from September.
European law and building contacts with the financial sector and its emerging fields has been a focus for the faculty.
In January it launched a new professional education programme -- the certificate in law and regulation of inclusive finance.
There has been further research within the FinTech sector to compete on the same level as other global financial places.
"It is important we develop this new discipline to innovate the sector for Luxembourg," Prof. Braum said. "This is a challenge for the future that we want to pursue alongside people within the sector. It is important to develop research in this field. Law and finance could be used to develop innovation in the country."
The faculty has become the first in Europe to introduce a 'law clinic' which allows law students to deal with professional cases to enhance their practical knowledge.
From the next academic year a new master's degree in logistics and supply chain management will be offered.
International relations have been strengthened with partnerships between a univeristy in Bamako in Mali and the National University of Laos to take part in social responsibility projects.
Prof. Braum said an increasing number of students are coming from China and the faculty is keen to boost this relationship.
The faculty's administration and administrative management has been certified ISO 9001 for the third consecutive time, recognising its efforts to continuously improve administrative services.
The faculty also plans to recruit next year someone to head the study of capital markets and post trade.
