German police have issued a warning to people in Trier after a confused deer caused an accident in the town centre.
According to German newspaper the “Volksfreund”, the frightened animal was first sighted in “Bäderstrasse” on Tuesday.
It was then seen again at around 3.30pm on Wednesday turning from “Südallee” onto “Weberbach” where it struck a car. The wild animal was not thought to be injured and fled.
Police believe that the animal wandered into the urban area to seek the favourite food of deer – roses. The palace garden in the centre of Trier has a number of rose plants which are currently in bloom.
Motorists were urged to drive with caution in Trier until the deer can either be caught or leaves the town of its own accord.
