The first ever green bond, the "Climate Awareness Bond" was listed in Luxembourg in 2007 at the initiative of the European Investment Bank (EIB).

Pioneering the world of green bonds listing, over the last 10 years Luxembourg has become a centre for green finance, with the Luxembourg Stock Exchange (LGX) being the only such institution to operate a platform dedicated to green social and sustainable securities.
