(CS/DL) Three students from Luxembourg were sentenced to 18 months in prison and a fine of 550 euros by a court in Arlon, Belgium, for attacking an employee of rail company SNCB.
The incident dates back to January 2011, when the three young men, now between 21 and 22 years old, beat up a deputy chief of station at the train station. The suspects had repeatedly hopped on and off a train bound for Luxembourg.
According to local media lavenir.net, an SNCB employee intervened and was then attacked.
The suspects, two of which were of Portuguese origin and one from Cape Verde, who all live in Luxembourg have been sentenced to 18 months in prison and a 550 euro fine. The men were not given a suspended sentence, with the judge citing the gravity of the crime and the lack of empathy for the victim.
The three men had fled the scene leaving their injured victim behind.
