(CS) Luxembourg crime thriller “Doudege Wénkel” is no longer in the running for an Academy Award, after a short-list of films was released ahead of the official January 16 nominations announcement.

In October, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences had released a long-list of 76 films, eligible in the Best Foreign Language film category. Luxembourg director Christophe Wagner and his film “Doudege Wénkel” were among the line-up together with film from around the globe – from Afghanistan to Venezuela.
