(ADW) Zoo employees in Israel have discovered that a couple of African penguins in love are actually two females building a nest together.
Mor Porat a spokeswoman for the Safari zoo explained, "we couldn't say for sure who's male or female. We had Suki and Chupchikoni, believed to be the ’male,' as a couple, building a nest together and courting each other."
She went on to explain how the found out both penguins were of the same sex, "we had to check their blood as part of an avian malaria study, which revealed that Chupchikoni was a she - a female."
So Suki and Chupchikoni are a proud lesbian couple often seen courting each other in their enclosure and it seems they feel very happy together.
Maybe human society could learn a thing or two from these two love birds!
