(CS/raz) The free trade zone and high-end warehouse Luxembourg Freeport is set to open in nine months, with the building near the airport in Findel continuing to take shape.
With the shell of the building completed, workers at the construction site were treated to a Christmas party on Tuesday. Also on the guest list were some of the Freeport's customers, as around 60 percent of the warehouse's storage rooms are already rented out.
The logistics platform will offer storage for luxury goods, under the supervision of Luxembourg customs authorities.
Anything from precious metals and jewellery to art, sculpture, cars and fine wines can be stored at the Freeport under special conditions to ensure their perfect preservation.
Located right next to the airport the Freeport aims at being a base at the heart of Europe for the storage and handling of high-end wares.
The official opening is planned for September 17, 2014.
