An international crèche in Luxembourg has raised 10,000 euros to help people affected by the devastating typhoon in the Philippines.
TheSunflower Montessori Crèche raised the funds over just 10 days by holding a collection of donations, a 1-euro second-hand sale and a charity gig at the Check Inn at Findel.
“The reason we raised it so quickly is because we are all passionate about the situation there. Some of our staff are from the Philippines so it's something very close to our hearts,” crèche manager Sam O'Dea told wort.lu/en.
The three activities helped raise around 9,400 euros, to which the crèche itself made up the difference to bring the total tally to 10,000 euros.
The funds were then divided equally among three charities working in the Philippines, including Care, The Philippines Luxembourg Society asbl and LPAD.
