Members of the British Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Rangers hosted a rustic Christmas market in Luxembourg on Sunday where they sold home-made goodies and sang carols.
The year-end event was hosted at the Nicolas Rollinger Celtic Hut in Neihaischen, providing a charming, homespun backdrop for the fundraising Winter Wonderland.
Among the cornucopia of delights for sale were hand decorated trees, mince pies, mulled wine, candles and Christmas baubles.
“It's a lovely year-end finale, supported by the parents,” Guiding Luxembourg District Commissioner Kim Clarke told wort.lu/en.
The event was organised with the help of members of the 2nd Brownies and Rainbows, 3rd Brownies and Rainbows, Rangers and Girl Guides, who were aged from 4 to 18 years old.
They were also accompanied by 25 people from a Girl Guiding section in Chislehurst, in the south of England, who spent the weekend visiting Luxembourg.
Brownies leader Becky Gollackner thanked the Luxembourg Scouts for the free loan of the hut for the second year running. “We're very lucky. It's the perfect site. I think it really embraces everything that Guiding and Scouting means.”
All proceeds from the event will be divided between the Girl Guides and Brownie packs and Make-A-Wish Luxembourg, a charity helping to grant the wishes of children with life-limiting illnesses.
Next year the Brownies celebrate their 100th anniversary. Both packs of Brownies in Luxembourg will organise a handful of events to mark the occasion.
Brownies, Rainbows, Rangers and Guides are all looking for leaders to help support their activities.
