If children weren't already excited enough about Christmas, they will be this Sunday when the annual Saint Nicolas parade gets underway in the capital.
The saintly character will be accompanied by a heavenly host of angels and the villainous “Black Peter” through the streets.
There will also be snowmen, musicians from “Tramsmusek” and the dinky Pétrusse Express train, with participants distributing gifts as well as festive cheer.
The procession begins on Sunday, December 1, with Saint Nicolas' arrival by train at the capital's central train station at 2pm.
Participants then set off at 2.40pm, along Avenue de la Gare and Rue du Fort Bourbon before arriving at Place de Paris.
Saint Nicolas will then pay a visit to the Zitha clinic (at around 3pm) before continuing to Place de la Constitution (at around 4pm), then Rue Philippe II, Grand Rue, Marché-aux-Poissons (at around 5pm), Rue de la Reine and finally Place Guillaume II (at 5.30pm).
The same day, some shops in the capital will be open to the public from 2pm to 6pm.
