(ADW) Suffering from cuts and bruises and most certainly fright, a taxi driver while travelling up the Côte d'Eich in Luxembourg City, suddenly disappeared over the edge of the steep slope by the side of the road plunging 20 metres before crashing.
The accident occurred on Monday evening just after 11pm at the junction of Côte d'Eich and Rue des Glacis half-way up the hill.
The driver approaching the City from Place d'Argent lost control of the taxi that then smashed through a barrier before plunging into the darkness below, rolling over several times and finally crashing to a halt 20 metres below the road above.
The driver was lucky to escape with only cuts and bruises but was transported to hospital via ambulance.
Firefighters were then faced with the difficult task of retrieving the taxi from its precarious position, a delicate operation that took some considerable time.
