(CS/DS) With less than one week to go until the DP, LSAP and “déi Gréng” want to present the results of their coalition talks, meetings of the three parties are scheduled throughout the weekend and next week.
On Friday the delegations already met for an additional round of talks to discuss the report of Cargolux “informateur” Robert Schaus, who presented a report on the proposed deal with Chinese investor group HNCA to acquire the former Qatar Airways share.
A decision on the matter is expected next week.
While meetings this weekend were initially only foreseen for Saturday, there will be no rest for the delegates this weekend as Sunday now also features a schedule of talks.
Representatives from the three parties will discuss the reports compiled by the working groups on communes, the Greater Region, housing, emergency services, police, health, social security, equal opportunities, judiciary, administrative reform, public service, transport and country planning.
New government for EU summit
At the end of the weekend around 75 percent of the coalition agreement should be completed, “formateur” Xavier Bettel commented.
This leaves next week to finalise the programme, as well as discussing the new cabinet. The coalition partners had announced that they want negotiations to be completed by November 29.
They are planning to present the coalition agreement to their respective parties for a vote on December 3. Once this step is completed, the new cabinet, which is expected to be sworn in during the first week of December, will be unveiled.
Once the new government is in place, the final MPs, who are currently still in office as part of the CSV-LSAP coalition, will be sworn in and the government programme will be presented to parliament.
Estimates foresee that this process will be completed by December 10, just in time for the next EU summit.
