(MSS) Luxembourg's sustainable development minister has stressed the importance of curbing climate change in the next two years, during the second week of the Warsaw Climate Change Conference.
“2014 and 2015 will be critical years for the climate. In Warsaw we need to ensure that they will become good years,” said minister Marco Schank when he spoke in plenary at the UN climate conference in the Polish capital on Wednesday.
The aim of the conference is to establish a binding global treaty to cut carbon emissions. Only this week did government ministers start taking part, which is where the Luxembourg minister came into the picture as a speaker.
The agreement, which will forge a commitment from world states to reduce their green house gas emissions, is to be signed in Paris by 2015 and come into force by 2020.
