(CS/ah) With an increasing number of emergency telephones along Luxembourg's motorways falling into disrepair, a new generation of phones will be installed over the coming months.
The old models were connected to the central phone network by copper wires, which have been causing highway maintenance crews some headaches in the past, as they need to be frequently repaired and are easily damaged.
This has led to many emergency telephones being out of order.
Over the coming three to four months, a newer model of emergency phone, which is no longer connected to a landline, but instead runs over the mobile phone network and is powered by photovoltaic panels, will be installed across the country.
