Police are warning Halloween tricksters to rein in their pranks on October 31 or face the heavy consequences.
Each Halloween, Luxembourg Police receive scores of reports of people celebrating Halloween by throwing eggs, tearing up gardens and defacing cemeteries.
While these tricks may seem like fun to the perpetrators, police do not see the funny side and will take a zero tolerance attitude this year.
Under Luxembourg law, anyone caught throwing hard or other objects, polluting or damaging another person's property can be punished by a fine of up to 250 euros.
Damage to tombstones, monuments, buildings or statues, meanwhile, can be punishable by fines of up to 5,000 euros and a prison sentence of eight days to one year.
Meanwhile, anyone found guilty of voluntary destruction or damage to movable property could face a prison sentence of one month to three years and/or a fine.
Underage offenders will not escape the law, either, and will be handled in Luxembourg's juvenile courts.
Police presence will be increased on Luxembourg's streets during the night of October 31.
